The Journey from Lost to Found

The Journey from Lost to Found

I Am An Entrepreneur

The Journey from Lost to FoundThe journey from lost to found has been an experience I welcomed.  When I began my entrepreneurial journey it was a pathway to failure and a bountiful harvest of never-ending great success. The road has been life-changing.

Once lost, I stumbled upon my niche by accident, started my own graphic design business and now I am enjoying all the rewards that come from building my business one product, book and service over time.  I define success as being truly happy with the amazing ability to use my God-given gifts.  I am so very passionate about designing.  It gives me a sense of calm and peace.  It embraces me with love.  Never complicated, designing just seems to come to me.  I make masterpieces that are highly unique with deep purples and various hues that bring my creations to life.

The Pursuit of Entrepreneurialness

The Journey from Lost to FoundOnce lost, never content, I left corporate America to pursue my dreams of being a work-from-home mother.  I founded Magic Fingers, a typing and transcribing business, and gave it life September 2002.  I lost Magic Fingers when I found and discovered the gift of design.  Self-taught I have been on this wonderful journey  with my design business traveling through and gracing the walls of homes around the globe.

Being a business owner is never ever complicated when you are doing something you sincerely love.

All for His Glory,

Cynthia

I Can’t Say It Enough-Live Your Dreams

Never Stop Dreaming

I can’t say it enough-live your dreams!  When I began my career into the heart of corporate America it was a journey for which I was truly unprepared. This journey would be one of the most important journeys of my life. Through it all, I reached my destination, unplanned and so unexpected. The experience of a lifetime, my journey into corporate America was definitely a lifestyle change that I didn’t welcome at the time, but realized it was essential to my growth as a human being.

Valuable and Important Lessons

Having received some of the most valuable and important lessons from my co-workers, they were lessons, looking back, that I needed and now can honestly say truly appreciated. Believe it or not I could make a a multi-million dollar grossing movie from the things that the doctors, secretaries and chairman of the department of medicine taught me. These are the lessons that have helped to negatively and positively alter my life impacting me in ways so powerful that it helped me to see that corporate was not the place for me.

It’s In Me

Being a program coordinator, I had the opportunity to use just one of my many gifts which was to design flyers for conferences and events for the house staff. The residents in the program also played a very large part in helping me to envision becoming a business owner. As program coordinator of the internal medicine program, one of my many tasks was to take minutes at the Clinical Meetings which were held quarterly. Listening to the doctors discuss and rate the performances of their preceptees, I learned, that I too, had someone who was rating my overall performance. It was in those meetings, along with many other essential factors, that I seriously contemplated becoming an entrepreneur. Yes, I had made up my mind that I needed to move out of corporate America and into the world of entrepreneurship, simply put, to live my dreams. I was ready to go home, spend time with my children and open the doors to my own work from home business; Magic Fingers Typing Services. Even though Magic Fingers didn’t live long, I was still traveling the road to live my dreams.  I knew deep in my heart that something bigger was planned for me.  I believed it and I began living my dreams through the art of design.  I was on to something so much bigger and definitely a billion times better and you know what, I deserved it.

Dreams

Wise Beyond My Tears

Becoming an entrepreneur was beyond the wisest choice I could have made, not just for myself, but for my family as well. I have found and now enjoy a real sense of happiness every day I enter into my office to begin designing tee shirts, personalized keepsakes or whatever the Holy Spirit speaks to the depths of my soul. I have contentment. I have peace. I have joy. I have success and I have been given the power to create my own wealth. I have a wealth of knowledge. I have a wealth of understanding. I have an abundance of prosperity and I have riches. These are all the things that have been gifted to me as an entrepreneur. You see, when you use the gifts God has given you and you use them with passion and thanksgiving, you can’t help but prosper in more ways than you could ever imagine and you’ll begin to live your dreams.

Your Competition

Your business is the real thing.

When I started magic fingers typing service all I knew was this;  I was an excellent typist. I typed fast and I typed with 100% accuracy. I designed a flyer and I opened the doors to my business within a few months after I had given it careful and serious thought.

Magic Fingers Typing Services

Magic Fingers was birthed from my gifts and skill set and in September 2002, I opened the doors to my typing/secretarial business; it was an immediate success. I was overjoyed. I did absolutely no research on how to start, promote, market, manage or grow a legitimate business of my own.  I had a thriving typing business that gave me the financial rewards I had longed for, but I was not being fulfilled in terms of enjoying what I did. All the money did was help to pay bills and tuition.  I liked to type, but I didn’t like typing for others and even though business was pouring in in the form of dissertations, term papers, resumes, correspondence, followup letters and more, I just wasn’t satisfied and I was not happy.  In other words, a secretarial business was not for me and that was because once I found my passion to design, which was much greater than anything I could have ever imagined for myself, I had to say goodbye to Magic Fingers almost as quickly as I started it.

When I started Cyndi’s Light Work Designs, I decided to do extensive research on how to grow a graphic design business.  The one thing that stayed in and stuck out in my mind was, CHECK OUT THE COMPETITION. Well for me the competition was and has never been a question, worry or concern. I look at my business like this and I think you should too.

I started and built my businesses on truth, on the foundation of Gods word which has been the link to my long-lasting success and success for me is not financial, but happiness, peace, fulfillment and contentment. I am a true Christian woman entrepreneur.  How can I accomplish anything on my own strength. I cant. How can I as a Christian woman start a business without God. I can’t and I’m smart enough to not make any attempts to try. How can my businesses live, breathe and thrive without my Savior in whom I love, believe and trust with all my heart, soul, mind, might and strength.

Not Without Jesus

Years ago, I watched, what I thought was a really good movie, “Not Without My Daughter”. This movie was about an Iranian physician who wants to visit Iran with his American family. He tells his wife, Betty, that his Iranian family wants to meet her and their young daughter, and asks them to come with him for a two week visit. Despite her deep fears about visiting Iran, particularly due to the Iranian Hostage Crisis, Betty reluctantly agrees. Upon their arrival, they are all greeted warmly by her husband’s family, but shortly before their flight back to America, Moody announces to his wife that he wishes for them to stay in Iran. Betty quickly realizes that she has been deceived by her husband, even though Moody took an oath that they would return to America, “swearing” on the sacred Koran. When she protests, Moody strikes her, and nobody in Moody’s family sympathises with her.

Planning and Hoping

Moody becomes more hostile and abusive, preventing her from leaving the house or using the telephone. Betty briefly manages to visit the American Interests Section of the Swiss Embassy, but is told that she is now an Iranian citizen since she is married to an Iranian, and as long as she lives in Iran, she cannot leave the country without her husband’s written consent and has no parental rights over her daughter. Moody learns of Betty’s meeting and threatens to kill her if she tries anything again.

Jesus77CynthiaGBoyerDesignz2017

Knowing that her chances of escape are minuscule, Betty conforms to her husband’s wishes in order to gain the trust of Moody and his family. By chance, during a trip to the marketplace, she meets a sympathetic shopkeeper who overhears her telephone conversations with the Swiss Embassy and puts her in contact with a humanitarian Iranian, Hossein, who offers to help Betty and Mahtob in their passage back to America. The plan becomes complicated when Betty receives news from America that her father is seriously ill and may be dying. Moody approves of Betty returning to see her dying father, but will not let Mahtob go with her. Betty decides to wait to return to America with Mahtob, but Moody unknowingly foils her by having her booked on a flight several days early thanks to his relatives’ contacts in the airport.

Not Without My Daughter

Betty eventually gets what seems to be her last chance to escape when Moody is suddenly called to the clinic for an emergency. On the pretense of going to buy presents for her father, Betty takes Mahtob and they contact Hossein, who manages to send Betty and Mahtob off with some Iranian smugglers, and using fake identity documents, they make their way past the checkpoints. Despite the difficult and very dangerous journey, Betty and Mahtob are dropped off in a street in Turkey, where they see the American Embassy in the distance. “We’re home,” says Betty.

Not Without Jesus

Betty was determined to return to America, but not without her daughter.  When I think of the title of this movie, a true story, I think about Jesus Christ and I say to myself that we cannot do anything without Him.  We can’t breathe without Him, we can’t think, we can’t focus, we can’t talk, we can’t ambulate, we can’t eat, we can’t thrive; we can’t do anything without Jesus.  We can’t start our businesses, we can’t market our businesses, we can’t manage, grow or promote our businesses.

Equipped with Tools Called Greatness!

When God calls us to fulfill a goal or a promise to Him or perhaps to a customer/client, He is going to equip you with the tools to do the job and to do the job right.  Giving glory and honor to God, our hearts should be filled and overflowing with an abundance of thanksgiving because we can rest assured that the outcome is going to be sensational; truly phenomenal because God is in control; we cannot do anything without Jesus.

Not without Jesus should be one of the fruits we eat every day.  Not without Jesus should be the nourishment that strengthens us. It should be the hope that restores us.  Not without Jesus should be the peace that encompasses us.  It should be the motto and brand for our businesses.  Not without Jesus is the blessing that comes down from the window of heaven and the gift that God gives us to help us in every aspect of life and in every area of our businesses.

3 Ways to Make Captivating Videos

Building Your Business with Videos

videosvideos

Throughout the world, businesses are embracing video in their PR and marketing strategies—and with good reason.

Thanks to smartphones, tablets and social media blanketing the globe, video is convenient to consume and is highly shareable.

It’s time for brands to take the next step by producing more cinematic content. Simply put, video for PR needs to look less corporate and more cinematic to keep people watching and more effectively convey messaging.

You don’t need a huge budget and a Hollywood director. Think about what is going to make people watch the videos you’re putting out there, and then make the right investments. Here are three ways you can produce videos that captivate:

1. Audio

People will suffer through videos with poor visual quality and good audio, but they won’t tolerate the reverse. You shouldn’t want them to suffer at all, so paying attention to audio and light is critical.

Don’t use the microphone that’s built in to your camera. Instead, invest in decent shotgun and wireless lavalier microphones, and remember that the closer the microphone is to your subject, the better your audio will be.

2. Light

Effective use of light will turn run-of-the-mill interviews into more dynamic and engaging videos.

There’s plenty of affordable gear with which to get started. You’ll find that as you play with different lighting scenarios that you’ll have more control over shadows and skin tones of your on-camera talent, along with more latitude for color grading in post-production.

3. Shot Composition
Unimaginative visuals are the hallmark of bad corporate video.

Sidestep this land mine by taking the time to compose your shots, choosing interesting backgrounds with contrasting colors. Also use the lighting mentioned above to control shadows and depth of field for a more cinematic feel.

Avoid shooting your subject in front of a bland painted wall at all costs.

Too often, brands focus solely on what’s being said and forget that people have to be engaged by your video’s visuals and audio. Without these elements, people won’t watch long enough to hear what you have to say or see the product demo you want to show them.

Putting extra thought and effort into the production value and personality of your video content will yield far better results.
